- They say lightening never strikes twice, and the same can be said about the custom S-Works Tarmac our Service Manager Levi recently built up. Featuring a full 3T build kit, 1 of 10 SRAM Red eTap groupsets in Canada, and an Ablerto Contador edition S-Works Tarmac frameset, we can safely say there’s nothing quite like it on the road.
- With this build, Levi decided to go with 3T components for the cockpit and wheelset. The Orbis C50 wheels are light enough to keep the bike a decent climber, but also provide an aerodynamic advantage into a headwind. The Aeronova LTD bars also allow the bike to slice through the wind with ease. The build is finished off with a 3T stem and Seatpost make the bike feathery light and stiff when sprinting. All 3T components in this build have the stealth decal kits, giving this machine a clean and sophisticated apperance.
- By far the most unique and interesting part of this build is the SRAM Red eTap electronic shift drivetrain. This completley wireless system declutters the bike of cables and makes setup a breeze. Its shifting is snappy, intuitive, and user tuneable to different behaviours. Paired with a Quarq Elsa RS carbon crankset with a built in power meter, this bike is the ultimate training tool and race machine, allowing rider and bike to be merge better than ever before. Small lightnening bolt accents on the frame tie into the electronic theme of this build.
- With a machine of this calibre, it has the weight and pricetag to match. Without pedals, the bike came in at 15.8lbs (7.17kg), which is right on par with race machines in the pro peloton. The pricetag of all these components with the frame breaks the $15k mark, but the performance of this bike more than lives up to the cost.
